Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes

08/04/2025 – The Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) assisted Tunisia in moving towards more advanced forms of administrative co-operation and exchange of information. On 7 and 8 April, the Global Forum Secretariat brought together 30 tax auditors and exchange of information (EOI) officers in Tunis for the second edition of a training on drafting group requests, as well as on implementing simultaneous tax audits and tax examination abroad.

The training reminded the legal aspects of these forms of co-operation and focused on their practical implementation with discussion around case studies. An expert official of the French tax administration (Direction Générale des Finances Publiques) also shared her practical experience in the simultaneous tax audits and tax examination abroad, focusing on the need for strong communication with the foreign partners for these types of co-operation.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
