Launched in 2021 amid rising poverty and inequalities driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crises, and escalating conflicts, the CoP-PI aims to ensure that DAC members remain focused on these critical challenges.
DAC Community of Practice on Poverty and Inequalities
The Community of Practice on Poverty and Inequalities (CoP-PI) of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) focuses on poverty and inequality reduction policies in development co-operation.

About
Our mission
The CoP-PI offers DAC members a space to discuss and enhance their commitment to support poverty and inequalities reduction, and ensure it is well embedded in their policy and programmes.
How it works
The CoP-PI holds annual meetings and thematic discussions with the participation of stakeholders beyond the DAC – including other development co-operation providers, multilateral organisations, partner country governments, academia, and civil society organisations. These exchanges focus on applying a poverty and inequality lens throughout all stages of the policy and programme cycle, discussing complementarities between bilateral and multilateral action, and exploring the interlinkages between poverty, inequalities and major development challenges such as food security, climate action, domestic resource mobilisation and taxation, social protection, and sustainable economic growth.
The CoP-PI also brings together a smaller Core Group of DAC poverty and inequality experts, which facilitates regular peer learning and exchange.
In addition to its convening role, the OECD offers analysis and policy advice related to development co-operation’s role in fighting poverty and inequalities. This includes the OECD Development Co-operation Report 2024: Tackling poverty and inequalities through the green transition and an overview of the poverty and inequality focus of DAC members.
