The 2026 OECD-ADBI Roundtable on Insurance and Retirement Savings in Asia will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 2-3 June and is hosted by the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, with financial support from the Government of Japan.
Held annually since 2016, the Roundtable brings together policymakers, regulators and the private sector to discuss key developments in insurance and asset-backed pension markets in Asia, and to share experiences and good practices on key policy and regulatory issues.
The discussions this year will focus on:
- Insurance and pension market and regulatory developments in Asia
- Financial protection against catastrophic risks based on the recent OECD report Financial Protection Against Catastrophic Risks: Floods, Fires and Other Major Risks
- Innovative approaches to addressing evolving climate risks (focus on cyclone risks)
- Leveraging capital market appetite for natural hazard risks
- Balancing the opportunities and challenges linked to the increased use of data and individualisation of insurance and pensions
- Building trust in insurance and pensions
- Protecting against longevity in ageing societies
- The role of insurance and pensions in capital market development and balance of payments
