The OECD, the National Climate Change Centre of Uzbekistan and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) co-organised a side event on “Strengthening Uzbekistan’s Climate Investment Portfolio, NDC 3.0 Transparency Framework and Institutional Capacity” on 4 June in Samarkand as part of the international environmental exhibition EcoExpo Central Asia 2026.
As Uzbekistan advances its climate agenda and prepares its next Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), discussions are increasingly focused on how climate commitments can be translated into concrete action.
In this context, the OECD presented ongoing work under the Water, Energy, Land-use Nexus programme in Central Asia, which supports countries in strengthening climate finance analysis, investment planning and institutional cooperation. The OSCE complemented this discussion by showcasing the digital platform “Environment and Climate Engagement (PEaCE)” designed to improve access to climate information, transparency and stakeholder engagement.
A key outcome of the event was the launch of a new OECD activity in collaboration with the National Climate Change Center of Uzbekistan. The initiative will support the assessment of climate mitigation and adaptation investments, strengthen inter-ministerial coordination and help develop approaches for measuring the effectiveness of climate and environmental projects.
