The WISE Centre launched its report Inclusive and Sustainable Well-being in Korea: 30 Years of OECD Membership and Future Policy Opportunities, which assesses whether Korea’s remarkable economic growth of recent decades has translated into more inclusive and sustainable well-being for Korean people, through the lens of the OECD Well-being Framework. It also highlights three inter-connected opportunities for strengthening inclusive, sustainable well-being outcomes in Korea (1) supporting young Koreans’ ability to thrive in their transition from education to economic independence; (2) promoting good mental health and social connectedness across the life course; and (3) addressing the social and structural barriers hindering gender equality.
During the event, a presentation of key messages from the report was accompanied by insights from Korean experts, as well as relevant good practice examples from OECD member countries on relevant topics.
