This initiative was organised by the OECD Trento Centre for Local Development and the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation. The initiative was part of the activities of the Network for Training and Scientific Research of the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, co-ordinated by the Autonomous Province of Trento with the support of TSM|STEP School for the Governance of Territory and Landscape.
The three-day capacity-building initiative explored key drivers of change, including climate change, demographic shifts, and local development policies. With an emphasis on practical strategies, the programme focused on aligning global trends with local realities to promote sustainable and adaptive solutions.
Participants engaged in discussions on strategic thinking, climate adaptation, local productivity and demographic shifts, including exploring the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for mountain areas. Through sessions and workshops, participants explored good practices for aligning SDG principles with local needs, ensuring progress on environmental protection and inclusive development. This approach promoted resilience and sustainability, while protecting the Dolomites World Heritage Site.
