Why are students who use less artificial intelligence often achieving better educational outcomes? Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the OECD and head of the PISA programme, discusses what the latest PISA findings reveal about AI use, literacy and learning.
PISA shows that higher performing students tend to be those who do not use artificial intelligence. The findings also point to declining reading skills, particularly in the abilities that matter most in the AI age, including distinguishing fact from opinion, navigating ambiguity and evaluating information critically.
