Finding the Right Fit for Competition Remedies

Remedies are where competition enforcement meets reality – they turn theory into practice by fixing problems and restoring healthy markets. But designing remedies that truly work is no easy task: they must be both practical and effective, and even then, success is never guaranteed. On 4 March, the OECD Competition Open Day held a panel of international experts to explore the topic. This session explored what makes remedies succeed or fail, weighing the pros and cons of different approaches and the challenges of meeting legal standards, with a spotlight on specific markets.

The session, available on replay below, was moderated by Despina Pachnou (Senior Competition Expert, OECD) and had as invited speakers: Damien Gerard (Prosecutor General, Belgian Competition Authority), Małgorzata Kozak (Assistant Professor, Warsaw University of Technology) and Julia Tarver Wood (Senior Litigation Counsel, Antitrust Division, US Department of Justice).
