This report is one of a set of case studies undertaken as part of the Strategic Joint Evaluation of the Collective International Development and Humanitarian Assistance Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It presents findings on the relevance, coherence, effectiveness and efficiency of the international response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Cabo Verde, and highlights lessons for future crises. Cabo Verde, a lower middle-income country and small island developing state (SIDS) in the Africa region, was selected as a country that was relatively badly hit by the secondary economic effects of the pandemic. Cabo Verde received significant support from a range of international partners and showed a swift economic recovery after the first year of the pandemic. Nevertheless, concerns remain regarding the sustainability of debt solutions.
