OECD Corporate Governance Factbook 2025: Argentina
Table of contents
This Country Note consolidates information published in the 2025 edition of the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook. Along with the summary of recent developments, it provides an overview of Argentina’s corporate governance framework and related information benchmarked against 51 other jurisdictions covered by the Factbook, including all OECD and G20 members.
The information in this document is as of 31 December 2024 unless otherwise specified.
For further details, please refer to the OECD Corporate Governance Factbook 2025.
1. Recent developments (as of 30 July 2025)
Copy link to 1. Recent developments (as of 30 July 2025)In March 2025, the Securities and Exchange Commission (CNV) adopted General Resolution 1058, which regulates Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), introducing corporate governance requirements to strengthen formal organisational structures and internal control frameworks.
In 2025, as a continuation of the previous UNDP consultancy, a follow-up project was launched to support the CNV in preparing an updated Corporate Governance Code (CGC) impact report. The consultancy also includes the preparation of an internal document to support Argentina’s accession process to the OECD in the area of corporate governance.
In 2024, the CNV received consultancy support from the UNDP to assess the impact of the CGC, including the level of adoption and effectiveness of its recommended practices among listed companies.
Since 2020, the CNV has conducted a structured monitoring process of CGC reports. In 2024, the approach was updated to include a peer-to-peer review mechanism, offering individual meetings with issuers to assess the quality of reporting and the adoption of recommended practices.
In 2023, the CNV introduced a Regulatory Framework for Remote Shareholders’ Meetings for public issuers. The regulation seeks to align with the G20/OECD Principles and encourages broader shareholder participation.
In 2023, the CNV launched the Handbook for voluntary reporting and disclosure of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information, with support from the Inter-American Development Bank. The Handbook provides tools to promote transparency and help issuers select appropriate international standards for disclosing ESG information to stakeholders.
In 2023, the CNV issued non-binding Recommendations for CGC Reporting to help listed companies improve the quality and comprehensiveness of their disclosures. The CGC adopts an “apply or not, explain” approach, aligned with the G20/OECD Principles.
