Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes

03/02/2025 – The Global Forum Secretariat is assisting the Seychelles in preparing for its upcoming in-depth peer review, aimed at assessing the jurisdiction’s compliance with the international Standard on transparency and exchange of information on request (EOIR). From 21 to 24 January 2025, experts from the Secretariat carried out a mock on-site visit in Victoria to discuss the progress achieved and remaining challenges, and to prepare stakeholders for the upcoming peer review process. Various meetings with government representatives and the private sector were organised.

Seychelles’ EOIR review will take place at the request of the Seychelles with the aim of improving its current rating. In February 2024, the Peer Review Group agreed to the Seychelles’ request for a supplementary review, which will be conducted under the methodology for in-depth reviews. The Global Forum Secretariat, with the support of the European Union, has been providing technical assistance to prepare the Seychelles for the upcoming review, which is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2025. The findings of this peer review are expected to be published in the first quarter of 2026.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
