While Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in urban life, its adoption often remains focused on individual applications – from mobility and housing to safety and other public services. A central issue is how cities can move from isolated AI projects to a coherent city-wide approach that delivers lasting public value. This also requires cities to better understand their readiness to adopt and scale AI effectively and responsibly without deepening digital, social or territorial divides.
Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea (MOLIT), and in collaboration with the German Agency for International Co-operation (GIZ), the Roundtable will bring together key stakeholders from cities, national governments, the private sector, civil society, academia and international organisations to:
- Discuss how cities can adopt more integrated and strategic approaches to AI
- Pilot-test a new OECD AI readiness self-assessment tool for cities
- Share lessons on ensuring that AI-enabled urban innovation delivers tangible public value
- Explore effective and responsible pathways to the AI-enabled city of the future
