Development finance spans a broad spectrum – from official development assistance (ODA) to other official flows, private flows and grants, and the private finance mobilised by official interventions. In isolation, each of these flows tells only part of the external financing picture in countries in the Global South.
This session will unpack how the OECD, through the statistical system of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), measures a range of development finance interventions and how its activity-level data, recorded in the Creditor Reporting System (CRS), capture who provides what, to whom, through which channels, and for which purposes. The session reviews where to find these statistics and how to work with them: the tools for accessing, visualising, and analysing the data for your own questions. By the end, you will be better equipped to navigate the DAC's statistics and use them for your work.
