The digital, green and competitive transitions require that no source of funding is left untapped. However, many EU regions face significant challenges in accessing available EU funds. This project aimed to improve access to and performance in EU initiatives and funds for the Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium), Silesia (Poland), Thuringia (Germany), and Wallonia (Belgium). By providing detailed analysis and a capacity-building workshop tailored to each region, it has directly supported these regions in navigating the complexities of EU initiatives and funds, including those under direct, indirect, and shared management.
The project provided each region with:
Individual regional diagnostics on the main challenges to accessing EU initiatives and funds and a mapping of the main institutional actors involved.
Tailored recommendations, strategic action plans and regional roadmaps to increase the use of EU initiatives and funds.
A capacity-building workshop to strategically mobilise EU initiatives and funds and to promote the exchange of best practices among stakeholders.
This support aimed to reinforce ongoing reform efforts in Belgium, Germany, and Poland, encouraging investment, boosting competitiveness, and fostering sustainable economic and social convergence, resilience and recovery. Ultimately, the project also aimed to enhance institutional and administrative capacity at both regional and local levels, facilitate socially inclusive, green, and digital transitions.
