Enhancing regional access - Launch of the Recommendations Report, Action Plan and Implementation Roadmap

As part of the TSI project “Enhancing regional access to and performance in EU initiatives and funds”, the OECD conducted intermediary workshops and discussions between November 2025 and February 2026 in the Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium), Silesia (Poland), Thuringia (Germany), and Wallonia (Belgium), and produced a recommendation report, action plan and implementation roadmap in collaboration with all four regions. These documents present targeted reforms aimed at enhancing regional access to and performance in EU funds and initiatives.

The recommendtaions report complements the analytical assessment of the regional EU funding landscape presented in June 2025 and proposes concrete actions to support a more strategic, coherent and effective approach to EU engagement, drawing on international good practices and tailored to each regional context. In turn, the actions within the strategic action plan and the implementation roadmap are designed to support the practical application and long-term impact of the prescribed recommendations.

This virtual event marked the launch of the recommendation report, action plan and implementation roadmap for the project “Enhancing regional access to and performance in EU initiatives and funds,” focusing on the regions of Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium), Silesia (Poland), Thuringia (Germany), and Wallonia (Belgium). Participants gained insights into the main recommendations proposed as well as the proposed actions aimed at strengthening regional capacity to access, manage and strategically align EU funds with regional priorities.

In addition, each region commented on the recommendations and proposed actions specific to them, offering a regional perspective on feasibility, priorities and implementation opportunities. This was complemented by a brief presentation on the learnings from the study visit conducted in January 2026 in the Basque Country and Catalonia (Spain). A Q&A will follow with the broader audience.
