The OECD launched the Peer Review and Regional Dialogue on Shipbuilding Industries in Southeast Asian Economies at an event hosted by the Government of Japan on 8 April 2026.
The one‑year initiative, supported by the Government of Japan, aims to strengthen co-operation, competitiveness and economic security in Southeast Asia’s shipbuilding sector. It will include several workshops in Southeast Asia, Japan and at the OECD, alongside a Regional Dialogue Forum in early 2027 where the report will be presented. The project was kicked off at the OECD-Southeast Asia Policy Roundtable on Shipbuilding, Steel and Artificial Intelligence in Tokyo in February 2026.
The peer review and regional dialogue will support evidence‑based policy exchange and sustained co-operation to promote resilient and sustainable shipbuilding industries in Southeast Asia.
