Launch events: Increasing the uptake of strategic public procurement in selected EEA countries through capacity-building

The programme will strengthen procurement workforce skills to better address governments’ priorities such as the green transition or the promotion of innovation. It also helps address systemic issues such as declining competition in public tenders and low uptake of cross-border procurement through targeted capacity-building programmes. Finally, the programme reinforces the understanding of the value of strategic public procurement across the procurement ecosystem.  

On 24 April 2026, the OECD held the launch event of the project Increasing the uptake of strategic public procurement in selected EEA countries through capacity-building. The event offered an opportunity to introduce the objectives, scope, approach and timeline of the project for Portugal.

The kick-off meeting presented to the project to Latvian stakeholders and provided an opportunity for contracting authorities to express interest in participation in project activities. 

The event convened various stakeholders, in particular from the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic.
