The OECD-NB Conference on Place-Based Economic Development was an event for regional, national and international thought leaders and practitioners – from the business, public and civil society sectors – to come together to exchange ideas, policies and practices that responded to the challenges and opportunities brought about by major global trends, collectively adding to the evidence base on what worked for resilient regional development.
Topics included trade uncertainty, climate change, demographic challenges, well-being and productivity headwinds, and attractiveness policies. While the host region, New Brunswick, was implicated by – and responding to – these challenges and opportunities, so too were OECD regions far and wide. Coming together to share best practices, debate, and engage in dialogue, while working towards concrete actions, including building linkages across places, was what this event aimed to achieve.
