The OECD has launched the initial outputs of the Research and Innovation Careers Observatory (ReICO), a new joint multi-year initiative with the European Commission, supported by the EU’s Horizon Europe Programme.
By offering comprehensive, internationally comparable statistics, ReICO supports evidence-based policymaking aimed at strengthening talent development, improving labour market conditions, and fostering talent circulation that benefits all. It seeks to bridge the policy-evidence gap by providing robust insights into career paths, mobility, and the evolving demands of R&I professionals.
Through the Beta launch of its interactive online hub, ReICO begins its journey to address critical gaps in the monitoring and understanding of research and innovation (R&I) careers.
This launch event presented highlights from the indicators developed during the project’s first year and introduced participants to the ReICO platform. It also provided an opportunity to discuss strategies to further improve the evidence base on R&I careers, supporting national policies to develop and nurture research and innovation talent.
