Abstract
AI has significant potential to improve the efficiency of social services, helping workers to provide better services in less time. At Ealing Borough Council in London, England (United Kingdom), social workers have used an AI note-taking tool to capture, transcribe and produce recommendations from client meetings, freeing up more time to spend on frontline care and support. The AI tool is reported to have led to upwards of a 40% reduction in the time social workers spend on administration, and is helping to inform comprehensive care plans, as AI scans meeting notes to identify and suggest actions for specific support needs.
Tony Clements, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Ealing (England, United Kingdom), presented a case study on the use of Magic Notes, and discussed how the Council is engaging frontline staff to innovate AI-enabled reform. Tony’s presentation was followed by a Q&A with the audience, moderated by Monika Queisser, Head of Social Policy for the OECD.
