The seminar aimed to foster dialogue on emerging risk assessment approaches for biopesticides, and to initiate a process for developing recommendations through the exchange of experiences and challenges faced by governments and stakeholders in this area.
Held over three half-days, the seminar focused on three critical topics:
- Proteins and peptides used for pest control
- Taxonomic changes of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)
- Semiochemicals
Presentations and discussions were delivered from a range of perspectives, including industry, regulatory authorities, and academia. The seminar provided an overview of the challenges and considerations in assessing risks associated with these biopesticide categories.
There was consensus that these three topics should remain areas of ongoing collaboration among OECD member countries and relevant stakeholders.
