Sohail Inayatullah: Futures Thinking and Strategy Transformation: Causal Layered Analysis in Theory and in Practice

In this presentation, Sohail Inayatullah presented the uses of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) as theory and practice. Its genealogy as well as its base in post-structural critical theory will be articulated. Sohail will present case studies of the use of CLA in recent projects across sectors and different nation states and international organisations. This was an interactive session with participants developing a CLA on a topic of their concern. The seminar began with a 20-minute presentation by Sohail, followed by a 40-minute interactive CLA exercise. 

Sohail Inayatullah, a political scientist and futurist, is the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, International Islamic University Malaysia - IIUM, Malaysia. He is also Professor at Tamkang University, Taiwan and Associate, Melbourne Business School, the University of Melbourne. He teaches from www.metafutureschool.org where his courses include Become a Futurist and Personal Futures: the CLA of the Self. He is listed in the top two percent of the world's scientists as measured by the highest impact of citations. His most recent books include CLA 3.0, The End of the Cow and other Emerging Issues, and Asia 2038.
