Students per teaching staff refers to the ratio of full-time equivalent students to full-time equivalent teachers at a given level of education.
Teachers are defined as professional personnel directly engaged in teaching students. This includes classroom teachers, special education teachers, and others providing instruction to full classes, small groups, or one-on-one, either inside or outside regular classrooms. The definition excludes teachers’ aides and other paraprofessionals.
The indicator is measured as the number of students per teacher.
