Through Peer Reviews on Development Finance Statistics, members of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the OECD jointly assess how countries collect, report and disseminate data on their development co-operation. These reviews help countries respond to the increasing demand for comprehensive, reliable and accessible statistics on development finance, in a context of frequent changes to reporting requirements, staff-turnover and often complex, decentralised reporting systems.
Slovenia has been verifying diligently and thoroughly the eligibility of activities as official development assistance (ODA). However, some of the activities in the field of migration might need further scrutiny. A significant challenge is the reliance on a single staff member for managing aid statistics, which poses a risk in terms of continuity and knowledge transfer. The review recommends increasing staff support for data management, improving the robustness of the IT systems for statistical data collection, and enhancing transparency through more frequent communication and dissemination of development co-operation data.
