Through Peer Reviews on Development Finance Statistics, members of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the OECD jointly assess how countries collect, report and disseminate data on their development co-operation. These reviews help countries respond to the increasing demand for comprehensive, reliable and accessible statistics on development finance, in a context of frequent changes to reporting requirements, staff-turnover and often complex, decentralised reporting systems. As the Chair and the Secretariat of the Paris Club, France plays a crucial role in the discussion on the treatment of debt relief in the official development assistance (ODA) grant-equivalent measure and is encouraged to facilitate consensus building. France is also among the 13 DAC members that include data from local governments in ODA. France is encouraged to set up a portal with ODA statistics for collecting data from all reporting agencies, and to make information available to the public with data visualisation tools. It is also encouraged to use social media to raise awareness about its development co-operation and disseminate its ODA figures. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is encouraged to carefully review the ODA-eligibility of activities in the field of peace and security and consult with the Secretariat in case of doubt.
