Skill mismatches and shortages are a growing challenge as skill needs evolve rapidly in response to the twin transitions and demographic changes. Across OECD countries, many employers struggle to find workers with the skills they need, while at the same time many workers face difficulties finding job opportunities matching their qualifications.
To support policy development, the OECD developed the Skills for Jobs Database, which provides internationally comparable indicators of occupation and skill imbalances in OECD countries. The database helps policymakers, researchers and practitioners identify shortages and surpluses and inform policies on skills development, labour mobility and workforce planning.
First launched in 2017 and updated in 2022, the Skills for Jobs Database is now being released in its third edition. Join us for the launch of the OECD Skills for Jobs Database 2026, where we will present the latest findings on skill and occupation imbalances in OECD countries and showcase the updated Skills for Jobs dashboard. The webinar will demonstrate how to navigate and use the database and explore the policy implications of the results through discussions with national and international experts.
