2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the MENA-OECD Initiative and the renewal of its mandate (2026–2030). The Steering Group Meeting of the MENA-OECD Initiative on Governance and Competitiveness for Development brought together high-level representatives to take stock of progress, discuss the chairmanship of the Initiative and pave the way for the Ministerial Meeting, which will take place at the end of the year.
The Steering Group meeting played a key role in shaping the Initiative’s future direction and new mandate ensuring it remains responsive to the region’s evolving needs. The Steering Group Meeting gathered the co-chairs of the Initiative and representatives from MENA and OECD governments to reflect strategically on the orientations and activities of the Initiative and takes stock of progress achieved in the implementation of the 2021 MENA-OECD Ministerial Declaration.
The Steering Group Meeting was held on 7 May. It benefitted from the outcomes of the Meeting of the MENA-OECD Competitiveness and Governance Programme’s Working Groups and Networks on 6 May.
