The Economic Convergence Scoreboard for the Western Balkans is a tool designed by the OECD to regularly monitor and assess the six Western Balkan economies’ progress on economic convergence towards the EU and the OECD.
Drawing on data and insights gathered over more than a decade through flagship OECD policy assessments – most notably the Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook and the SME Policy Index: Western Balkans and Türkiye – the Scoreboard guided policy-makers in identifying key areas requiring targeted reforms to accelerate.
A pilot version of the Scoreboard was released in 2023 as a background document to support the discussions at the Berlin Process Leaders' Summit. Supported by financial assistance from Poland, the upcoming 2025 edition will build upon the pilot’s framework with expanded analyses at both the economy and policy area levels.
This meeting on preliminary findings will serve as a platform to present, discuss and validate the initial results outlined in the Economic Convergence Scoreboard for the Western Balkans 2025. Specifically, it will provide participants the opportunity to engage in discussions regarding the region's key achievements and challenges across the five cluster areas, as well as reflect on data collection challenges and potential approaches for improvement.
