Opening presentation: Laurie Trautman, Director of the Border Policy Research Institute, Western Washington University (United States).
Moderated discussion about the foundations for effective cross-border cooperation. Looking at issues such as identifying shared cross-border challenges and priorities, and the potential role of cross-border governance bodies to effectively address them. Also looked at the selection of public and non-governmental partners and defining the appropriate territorial scale for effective joint action.

13:45-15:00 - Roundtable discussion: Cross-border governance bodies as vehicles to drive economic and social development
Opening presentation: Sabine Zillmer, Partner and Head of the Berlin office, Spatial Foresight.
Moderated discussion about how cross-border governance bodies can foster economic and social development. Explored key topics such as the delivery of cross-border public services and infrastructure (e.g. transportation, healthcare), joint planning initiatives, enhancing regional attractiveness, and addressing the needs of cross-border workers.
15:00-16:00 - Roundtable discussion: Funding and financing sustained cross-border action
Opening presentation: Raúl Alberto Hidalgo Gallegos, Director of the Directorate for Border Development and Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
Moderated discussion about sustainable funding and financing of cross-border action. Looked at topics such as defining fair membership contributions that can adapt to changing needs and priorities, leveraging public sector support, and ensuring diversified funding and financing sources.
