In early 2022, the OECD surveyed a total of 5 334 workers and 2 053 firms in the manufacturing and finance sectors in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The two surveys complement one another, the employer survey is a valuable source of information about how and why AI is being implemented, while the worker survey captures the first-person experience of using AI and responding to the changes it brings about. The surveys were repeated in 2026 with revised questionnaires and larger country and sector coverage.

Since 2022, these multi-country surveys have captured workers' and employers' own perceptions of the impact of AI on their workplaces.
