The OECD and the European Patent Office (EPO) will present their joint report Mapping the global quantum ecosystem on Wednesday 17 December at the OECD in Paris.
The joint report provides an overview of the emerging quantum technology ecosystem—covering quantum communication, computing and sensing—and its potential economic and societal implications. It maps the main actors involved, assesses technological progress using patent and investment data, and reviews associated skills needs. The report also identifies key challenges to further development and diffusion and presents initial evidence on trade in quantum-relevant goods, as well as government measures supporting quantum R&D.
The report will be published at 09:00 CET at the following link, which can be included in news articles: https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/mapping-the-global-quantum-ecosystem_010c37da-en.html.
OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann and EPO President António Campinos will open the launch event at 14:00 Paris time/13:00 GMT followed by a presentation of key insights from the study by authors.
To attend in person, journalists are requested to register by writing to com.registrations@oecd.org. Journalists can also follow the launch live here Scaling up quantum innovation | epo.org.
