Hanna-Mari has served as Deputy Chief of Staff since February 2025. She has extensive experience in the development of policy, the provision of policy advice and supporting intergovernmental processes first in the Finnish government and then at the OECD.
Prior to her position as Deputy Chief of Staff, she has served as Senior Counsellor of the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) (2022-2025), contributing leadership, strategic and substantive support across STI and its key priorities. Alongside her role in STI, she has also been contributing to the preparations for the new OECD Strategy on Development. Since 2021, as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Secretary-General, she provided substantive, management and advisory support in relation to various corporate priorities. From 2015 to 2020 Hanna-Mari was the Head of Unit for the Global Partnership and International Dialogue in the Development Co-operation Directorate.
Prior to joining the OECD in 2011, Hanna-Mari worked for the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs as Senior Administrator and Advisor for Development Policy. She has also held positions at the United Nations Development Programme, Finland’s National Committee for UN Women and the Helsinki School of Economics.
A Finnish national, Hanna-Mari has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Aalto University School of Business (Finland).
