On 30 January 2007, His Excellency, Mr. Salem Al-Khazaleh, Jordanian Minister for Industry and Trade, met OECD Secretary-General, Mr. Angel Gurría. His Excellency, Mr. Al-Khazaleh and Mr. Gurría discussed the relationship between the OECD and Jordan and common projects in the areas of trade, industry and good governance.

H.E. Mr. Al-Khazaleh has played an active role in the Governance for Development (GfD) in Arab Countries Initiative, in his present as well as previous functions. In February 2005, he attended the Dead Sea Launching Conference of the GfD Initiative and in September 2006, a regional capacity building seminar on pay and grading reforms was held under his patronage in Amman.

A number of regional and country-specific activities are currently being planned jointly with the Jordanian government in the framework of the GfD Initiative. For example, a workshop on regulatory impact assessment has been scheduled for summer 2007.
