Women leaders in tax transparency pilot programme starts with twenty-three registered participants

18/02/2022 - The first meeting of the Women leaders in tax transparency programme took place on 17 and 18 February 2022. Initially planned to train a maximum of fifteen female participants, the pilot programme had to be expanded to respond to the strong interest. Twenty-three tax professionals from 23 developing-country members of the Global Forum are participating in this first edition.

The two-day workshop focused on the tax transparency standards and started by a mentoring session with the patron of the 2022 pilot programme, Ms Grace Perez-Navarro, Deputy Director of the OECD's Centre for Tax Policy and Administration.

Reducing gender gaps in member jurisdictions is one of the goals of the Global Forum’s capacity-building strategy, and the Women leaders in tax transparency programme is a landmark step in this direction. It aims at promoting female leadership in tax transparency and exchange of information through a long-term programme and creating a network to ensure lasting co-operation and experience sharing. The programme includes trainings, leadership and mentorship modules.

The next event will take place in March 2022 and will focus on the standard on automatic exchange of information.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
