    Strong crop yields, higher productivity and slower growth in global demand should contribute to a gradual decline in real prices for agricultural products over the coming decade, but nonetheless, prices will likely remain at levels above those in the early-2000s, according to the latest Agricultural Outlook report released on 1 July in Paris.

  • Fertiliser and Biofuel Policies in the Global Agricultural Supply Chain

    This report analyses policies along the agricultural supply chain, in particular support measures for fertilisers and for biofuels. It uses the OECD Fertiliser and Biofuel Support Policies Database that covers polices in 48 countries (including the EU and its Members) and assesses the market effects of these policies with a computable general equilibrium model, MAGNET.

  • New AMIS Market Monitor now available

    Higher production estimates confirm large supplies of wheat, maize and soybean in 2014/15, a development which has fostered further rise in world reserves and kept international prices under downward pressure. Improved supplies in importing countries are likely to result in falling volumes of trade in wheat and maize, while also slowing growth in international flows of soybeans.

OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook
This annual report assesses agricultural market trends and prospects for production, consumption, trade, stocks, and prices of key agricultural commodities – biofuels, cereals, dairy, fish, oilseeds, meat and sugar. The report covers OECD member countries, major economies such as India, China, Russia, Brazil and Argentina, and developing regions in Africa and Asia. The publication is complemented by an online database that includes historical data back to 1970 where available and projections for the forthcoming decade.

Bioenergy touches areas as diverse as scientific developments, environmental effects, energy balances and agricultural market economics. OECD has launched an interdisciplinary research program incorporating expertise from a number of other directorates of the Organisation, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and other institutions and researchers.

Long-term Scenarios for Agriculture and Food
The future of the agriculture and food system is subject to considerable concerns. Increasing agricultural demand, fuelled by growing and increasingly urbanized population, rising incomes and substantial demands for feedstock commodities for energy and other non-food uses. OECD work focuses on the dialogue across governments and with other stakeholders, experts and modelers. and brings together aspects from a variety of economic, biophysical, social and political issues, thus allowing for a multi-disciplinary approach necessary for an informed debate.

Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS)
OECD is contributing actively to the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) called for by G20 agriculture ministers with the aim of addressing food price volatility through more timely, accurate and transparent information on global food markets. AMIS issues monthly reports on global markets that are freely accessible to analysts and the public.
