OECD netFWD jointly with the governments of Germany and Mexico are co-hosting :

"Leveraging philanthropy for the 2030 Agenda: from evidence to action”

This meeting will discuss why and how governments should leverage philanthropy to collectively work towards achieving the SDGs, and provide evidence-based recommendations to governments willing to engage more strategically with their domestic philanthropic sectors and international foundations.

Senior government officials and CEOs of foundations will share their experiences of working together and share suggestions to engage in joint coalitions. They will specifically share insights about the efforts of India, Kenya, Mexico and Myanmar which have implemented the Guidelines for Effective Philanthropic Engagement to improve collaboration between foundations and governments.

 The purpose of the meeting is to:

  • Raise awareness of governments on the specificities of foundations as a strategic partner to achieve the SDGs, and on the importance to take their perspectives and incentives into account
  • Identify ways for greater collaboration between governments and their domestic philanthropic sectors to optimise their contributions and help leverage finance for development.
