OECD CLI, detailed methodological information

From February 2011 the OECD publishes Composite Leading Indicators for Chile, Estonia, Israel and Slovenia. The methodology used can be downloaded here.

 

In July 2010, the OECD reviewed the CLI for 3 countries (China, India, Indonesia). In doing so, some component series have been dropped or replaced. In February 2010, the OECD reviewed the CLI for 8 countries (Brazil, China, Indonesia, Ireland, Korea, the Slovak Republic, Switzerland, the Russian Federation). In doing so, some component series have been dropped or replaced. The OECD has developed CLIs for the major six OECD non-member economies (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russian Federation and South Africa) monitored by the organisation and six recently new OECD member countries (Korea, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovak Republic). CLIs for above countries were released for the first time in April 2006. In December 2002, for 16 countries, the OECD updated the reference chronology of turning points of the CLIs as well as the chronology of turning points for component series. At the same time, some component series have been dropped or replaced. Download the Update

 

The composite leading indicators for Turkey has been created and has been released monthly since December 2002.

 

The composite leading indicators for Spain and Italy have been revised in 2001.

 

A composite leading indicator for the Euro zone has been created and has been released monthly since October 1999.

 

Following the OECD Leading Indicators Meeting in October 1996:
- The composite leading indicators for the G7 countries and Belgium have been revised.
- A composite leading indicator is now published for Mexico .
- The list of components in the composite leading indicator for Norway has been modified.
