Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Japan from 6 to 10 April 2014 to commemorate the country’s 50th anniversary of membership of the Organisation. During his visit, Mr. Gurría delivered opening remarks at a Symposium celebrating these 50 years of Japan’s OECD membership, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. |

He also held meetings with several ministers and high-level officials. Mr. Gurría also traveled Fukushima, to visit the OECD Tohoku School project and met with teaching staff and students. His visit served to hold consultations on the preparations of the annual OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, which will be chaired this year by Japan and will take place at the OECD in Paris on 6-7 May, 2014.
