OECD and Peru visit Canada to learn about reform and modernisation of government formalities and services

On 24-28 June 2019, the OECD and a delegation of Peruvian officials from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers met with 12 offices of the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada and of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business to learn about the experience of the Canadian Federal Government in the reform and modernisation of government formalities and services. The technical visit focused Canada’s experience in designing, implementing and managing the government’s website Peru, with the support of the OECD, is analysing best international experiences in developing government websites to implement a digital policy that will help with the simplification of formalities, improve communication between the government and citizens and enhance the provision of public services.


Topics included, inter alia:

  • Integration, improvement and digitalisation of government services and formalities
  • Analysis of the organisation of services and formalities using a life event approach
  • Elaboration and design of performance indicators


The Canadian and Peruvian officials shared the main challenges they face in adopting a policy focused on digital formalities. The mission to Canada was carried out in the framework of the co-operation agreement between the OECD and Peru and with funding from the European Commission, which aims at strengthening public governance in Peru.
