This event took place in the framework of the OECD Regional Program for Latin America and the Caribbean and with the co-operation of the British Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. Likewise, it was supported by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce of Costa Rica (MEIC) and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica (COMEX).
The workshop aimed to introduce concepts related to regulatory policy and governance, RIA and public consultation. RIA is a tool promoted by the OECD for the development of quality public policies and comes from the OECD Recommendation of the Council on Regulatory Policy and Governance. This methodology allows public policy makers to issue regulations that are “fit-for-purpose”, through a systematic and orderly method.

The event was addressed to officials of the ministries and regulatory bodies of the country. In total, 80 Costa Rican officials participated in the workshop.
