Open Gov LockThe relationship between citizens and governments is a fundamental element of democratic society today. Greater transparency and public participation in governments leads to better policies and services and promotes public sector integrity.

An Open Government is one that discloses information about its processes and proceedings, sharing documents and data for public scrutiny and involvement, and inviting citizens to participate in decision making processes.

 

Open Governments are built on the principles of:

The Recommendation of the Council on Open Government was adopted by Council on 14 December 2017.
