Statistics Working Paper N. 101 2019/1 - The effect on the household consumption price index from possible sources of error in capturing digital products depends on the weight of the affected products.
Inflation may be present in some parts of an economy but not others. Contributions to annual inflation show how much different product groups contribute to overall inflation in a given year. The measure is a useful tool to understand where inflation is occurring in different countries, analyse trends in inflation over time, and identify volatile and stable components of inflation.
All travellers know that the prices of goods and services vary between countries. In order to capture these price differences, Eurostat and the OECD collect data on the prices of identical goods and services in their member countries, and compile “Purchasing Power Parities” (PPPs) – conversion rates that neutralise price differences between countries.
The OECD, in partnership with Eurostat, has calculated new benchmark purchasing power parities (PPPs) for GDP and final consumption for the year 2014 for 47 countries following a common methodology. Detailed 2014 PPP benchmark results are available at http://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?DataSetCode=PPP2011. They include PPPs, price level indices and associated indicators for some 50 categories of goods and services.

Data is available in index and in percentage change on the same period of the previous year. Producer prices are PPI for manufacturing. However, some countries do not produce a PPI and a wholesale price index is used as a proxy. In addition, some countries do not have an index which covers only manufacturing. The series are updated continuously.
