The OECD will present the eighth edition of the Latin American Economic Outlook: Logistics and competitiveness for development on Friday 18 October at 5:00 p.m, in the margins of the Ibero-American Summit in Panama City, Panama. This year’s report focuses on how the region can enhance its logistics performance and makes policy recommendations on strengthening trade links, diversifying into higher value-added industries and optimising competitiveness. It also makes suggestions on how countries in the region can embrace the new opportunities arising from shifting production structures.

 

Angel Gurría, OECD Secretary General, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, ECLAC Executive Secretary, and Enrique García Rodríguez, President and Chief Executive Officer, CAF will discuss:

 

•       What growth prospects for Latin America in 2014?
•       What are the implications of global economic uncertainty for the region?
•       How to meet the challenge of greater economic diversification with a rising middle-class?
•       What will improved logistics mean for the region?
