Better regulation and innovation

Transformative technologies are fundamentally changing the way we live and work together. They have direct consequences on the well-being and cohesion of society as a whole, as well as strong impacts for businesses in all sectors, through effects on productivity, employment, skills, income distribution, trade and the environment.

To help policy makers unlock the potential of technology and innovation while safeguarding public protections in high-uncertainty contexts the OECD Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC) and the Network of Economic Regulators (NER) have developed a joint programme of work structured around two pillars:

  • Good regulatory practices to address the regulatory challenges raised by emerging technologies and support socially beneficial innovations;
  • Data-driven approaches for more effective and efficient rulemaking and regulatory delivery.
