Promoting better regulation in Israel

Rishon LeZion, Israel, 11-12 February 2020,

The Regulatory Policy Division has been in close co-operation with the Israeli government over the past three years to promote better regulation in the country. Improving the regulatory framework and reducing administrative burdens has become a key political issue in Israel, especially how these policies can reduce consumer prices and improve the business environment. As a result, Israel has made many improvements and has already engaged the OECD Regulatory Policy Division a number of times, including for a capacity-building workshop on regulatory impact assessment, ex post evaluation of regulations and regulatory delivery with the Ministry of Agriculture in February 2020. Participants learned about the key pillars of evidence-based policy making and enforcement and put their knowledge into practice with a case study. The workshop also provided opportunity for exchange of challenges and best practices between government institutions, OECD experts and peers from Germany and the United Kingdom.
