OECD Secretary-General in Costa Rica, 16-17 October 2013


Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, travelled to Costa Rica on 16 - 17 October, at the invitation of President Laura Chinchilla Miranda. During his stay in San José, the Secretary-General met with the President, the Vice-president and most Ministers in the Cabinet.

The Secretary‑General delivered special remarks at the seminar “Costa Rica on the road towards OECD”, hosted by President Chinchilla to signal her country's growing engagement with the OECD. On such occasion, Costa Rica adhered to the OECD Declaration of the Future of the Internet Economy and the OECD Declaration on Propriety, Integrity and Transparency. The recent Investment Policy Review of Costa Rica carried out by the OECD was showcased too.

During his visit, Mr. Gurría also closed the 2nd Meeting of the OECD Network for Policy Dialogue on Global Value Chains, Production Transformation and Development, together with Minister of Foreign Trade Anabel González.
