Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in Korea from 11 to 13 April 2015

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Korea from 11 to 13 April 2015 to attend the 7th World Water Forum in Gyeongbuk and Daegu. He participated in the opening ceremony with Ms. Park Geun-hye, President of the Republic of Korea; delivered a speech and chaired the panel at the Global Dialogue on Water Security, a joint initiative with the Global Water Partnership (GWP), and delivered opening remarks and chaired a session of the WWC-OECD high-level panel on Infrastructure Financing for a Water-Secure World.

 

The Secretary-General also participated in the panel of the OECD side event for the launch of the publication Water in Cities: Ensuring Sustainable Futures and three other related OECD reports, and was keynote speaker at a high-level panel "OECD Principles on Water Governance: From Vision to Action". Mr. Gurria also participated in a high-level political dialogue on the Priorities for the Water Sector in the Post-2015 Development Agenda organised by United Nations Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB) and delivered remarks on "The way forward: From thematic priorities to strategic considerations".

 

While in Korea, Mr. Gurría held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Park Geun-hye, President of the Republic of Korea. He also met with several Ministers of her Cabinet, including Minister of Environment, Minister of Science, IC and Future Planning and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as high-level officials from other countries attending the World Water Forum.
