This event is co-hosted by the OECD and the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), with sponsorship from the Netherlands Ministry of Finance, within the framework of a Technical Assistance Project for Financial Education in the Dutch Constituency Program. The event will bring together high-level officials, practitioners and experts on financial education from South-East Europe and other OECD countries. Presentations and interactive discussions will focus on good practice experiences, achievements and challenges in improving financial literacy and inclusion in the region. Participants will look, in particular, into the role of National Strategies for Financial Education and will pay special attention to preliminary results of an OECD/INFE survey on financial education knowledge, attitudes and behaviours and country mappings of financial education landscapes in South-East Europe.
A financial literacy workshop held on 8 November, will discuss practical case studies and policy options for tackling challenges of financial education for: i. The young generation – pupils and students; ii. Rural population iii. MSMEs
The seven countries that are part of the project are: Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, and Romania.
