2nd High-Level Policy Dialogue on Energy, Water and Land-use Nexus in Central Asia
Central Asia is one of the most vulnerable regions to the impacts of climate change, and the climate crisis is emerging as a critical risk for national and regional security.
On 16 June 2022 in Almaty, the countries of Central Asia, their development partners and private-sector representatives met to discuss practical approaches to enhance regional and cross-sectoral co-operation towards climate, energy, water and food security in the region.
The OECD, in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, organised the second high-level policy dialogue on the Energy, Water and Land-use Nexus in Central Asia. The OECD, EBRD, FAO, SIC ICWC and UNECE presented a roadmap to make their contribution to the region’s climate and natural resource security through the new project, Energy-Water-Land use Nexus Transformation in Central Asia.

Participants committed to continue dialogue and take action to promote regional co-operation to build the resilience to climate risks, systematic approaches to address water-related issues, develop renewable energy sources and promote sustainable land use across Central Asia.
The event was financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
