The Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and the OECD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that sets out their co-operation in the field of chemicals to support China’s efforts in chemicals regulation and policy making. This collaboration will allow to adapt know-how on cutting edge testing methodologies developed by OECD countries, to China’s needs in the area of toxicity testing, especially in vitro test methods including for cosmetics.

The Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (GDCDC) organised a Workshop on Progress Made in the Genotoxicity Methods and Regulatory Acceptance, on 27-28 November 2018, in Guangzhou, China. The OECD participated in the organisation of the workshop, marking the beginning of the cooperation between OECD and GDCDC following the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding in April 2018. The workshop was the opportunity to share experience and strengthen collaborations, exchange views on the validation of new methods for genotoxicity testing and discuss issues and obstacles to regulatory acceptance of new methods and methodologies.
